12-year-old plays 1st-division match in Bolivia

LA PAZ, Bolivia (AP) - A 12-year-old has played in a first-division football game in Bolivia.

Mauricio Baldivieso - the son of Aurora club coach Julio Cesar Baldivieso - entered the match Sunday in the 84th minute in a game Aurora lost 1-0 to La Paz FC. He is believed to be the youngest player to take the field in a top-flight game in the South American country.

Baldivieso wore No. 10, the same number his father once wore playing for Bolivia's national team.

"I felt relaxed because I had the support of other players on the team," Baldivieso said.

The younger Baldivieso touched the ball three times, and was knocked down once by an opponent - which drew jeers from the fans.

"Papa told me that I would make my debut if we were winning," he told reporters. "But things went another way and I still got to play."

Baldivieso turns 13 on Wednesday and said he hopes to play abroad one day.
