Comolli wary of Matuidi interest

St Etienne sporting director Damien Comolli has conceded the club could be forced to sell reported Arsenal target Blaise Matuidi this summer.

Defensive midfielder Matuidi is said to be a target of Gunners manager Arsene Wenger, whose funds have been boosted by the reported £25million fee paid by Manchester City for Emmanuel Adebayor.

Former Tottenham man Comolli is reluctant to let 22-year-old Matuidi leave Stade Geoffroy-Guichard but admitted he would have little say should a major side come in for his services.

Comolli said: "He is not for sale. We are not looking for an offer.

"However, it would be difficult to prevent him from leaving if a top 10 European side came in for him."

Meanwhile, Arsenal scout Gilles Grimandi has hinted that the Gunners are unlikely to make a second move in the transfer window until they part company with another player.

He told France Football: "We have a full squad at the moment. If a key player leaves, then we will think about making a signing."
