Maxi Lopez's wife says she escaped kidnapping

SAO PAULO (AP) - The wife of Argentine striker Maxi Lopez said she was the victim of a kidnapping attempt in Brazil.

Model Wanda Nara told Argentine media that a taxi driver who said he was going to escort her to the stadium where her husband was practicing, ended up taking her to a different location and, along with another man, announced the kidnapping.
Wanda, who was with her mother and young son in her own car, reportedly told Radio Mitre that she was able to escape just as the men announced the kidnapping on Monday. She did not elaborate.

Gremio spokesman Vitor Rodrigues said on Tuesday that Maxi Lopez, a former Barcelona striker, said nothing serious happened and that his family was doing fine.
