PORTSMOUTH, England (AP) - Portsmouth has named Paul Hart as manager on a permanent basis following his successful caretaker spell at the end of last season.
The appointment was confirmed on Tuesday, hours after the Premier League approved a takeover by new club owner Sulaiman al-Fahim, a businessman from the United Arab Emirates.
Hart was promoted from his job as first-team coach in February when Tony Adams was fired as manager, and steered Portsmouth clear of relegation danger.
The 56-year-old Hart signed a two-year contract after meeting with al-Fahim.
