NAGOYA, Japan (AP) - Japan's Nagoya Grampus defeated South Korea's Suwon Bluewings 2-1 on Wednesday to reach the quarterfinals of the Asian Champions League.
Yoshizumi Ogawa gave Nagoya 1-0 lead in the first half, converting a pass from Davi in the 22nd minute. Japan international Keiji Tamada doubled the advantage in the 66th minute with a powerful left-footed drive from 15 meters.
Brazilian Edu pulled one back for Suwon in the 69th minute but the visitors couldn't score an equalizer.
The round-of-16 matches were only single leg games.
Nagoya topped Group E with an unbeaten record in the preliminary round. Suwon finished second in Group G.
